IF YOU KNOW a teenager, or simply follow one or two of them on Twitter, you might have witnessed a meltdown over a thing called 5SOS this morning.

This thing has the teenagers of Ireland typing in all caps and calling themselves ‘burritos of sadness’. But what is it?

Of course, it’s a boyband. 5 Seconds of Summer (or 5SOS for short) are four Australian teenagers who started out performing covers on YouTube before an endorsement from One Direction made them latest sensations in pop music.

Their biggest single to date, She Looks So Perfect, contains references to a girl wearing her boyfriend’s American Apparel underwear. It’s seriously catchy, and look! They play their own instruments!

They supported One Direction on their 2014 world tour, and made an appearance on The Late Late Show during the Dublin dates.

Here they are getting to grips with hurls and sliotars:

Last week, the band announced their catchily-titled #RockOutWithYourSocksOut arena tour, with two dates scheduled for Dublin and Belfast in May 2015.

Tickets are going on sale at 10am today, and teenagers have been camping out to get them (yes, this is really what they want to do with their summer holidays).

The tickets haven’t even gone on sale yet and there are already calls for a second Dublin date.

Expect complete chaos when they roll into town next May. Chaos.
