Irish people sitting in traffic. We’ve all been there.

CHANCES ARE, IF you’ve driven in Ireland for any length of time you’ve experience what we call to call “Newlands Cross” (Get it? “Cross”? As in “angry”?) at some stage or another.

It can start as far back as Rathcoole on the N7, or as close to the city centre as Inchicore, and it will continue until that fabulous collection of traffic lights nestled between Clondalkin and Tallaght are far behind you.

Work on a new flyover to alleviate the traffic problems at Newlands Cross kicks off today, and while the disruption will obviously be hellish, the payoff for people like this will be worth it…
