SHOCKING CCTV FOOTAGE of a rush-hour collision between a jeep and an ambulance has been released.

The incident occurred last Friday at about 6.10pm on Aungier Street in Dublin’s city centre.

The drivers of both vehicles were hospitalised for injuries which were described as not life-threatening.

A staff member who was in the back of the ambulance was unharmed, and “took control of the situation” according to an operator at the fire service’s Townsend Street control room.

Two more DFB ambulances were sent to the scene, one for each vehicle. A fire engine and emergency tender also responded, along with gardaí.

A senior officer will investigate the incident on behalf of Dublin Fire Brigade.

The video also shows there were near misses for a number of pedestrians at the crossroads at the time of the incident.
