A BABY RHINO was left traumatised after a poacher brutally murdered his mother, and now refuses to sleep alone.
Gertjie was rescued from the wild by Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in South Africa after he was found crying next to his mother’s body.
The little rhino is now recovering but refuses to sleep alone. As a result, the team take turns feeding Gertjie every three hours and sleep outside his room in shifts. He’ll be in the centre until he is ready to be re-introduced to the wild.
