The BBC got the Ireland emoji wrong on its Conor McGregor story and people are taking the piss

Don’t mess with people’s flag emojis.

AT AROUND 7AM this morning, Conor Mcgregor dropped another tweet that’s set to be seen around the world.

He’s back on the card for UFC 200, apparently, and this is big news.

The BBC were on it right away, but the emoji they used on Twitter didn’t look quite right

Yeah, they’d accidentally used the Ivory Coast emoji, and the corrections came in thick and fast

Like, that biting sarcasm that only comes when somebody gets a flag wrong

It’s better to get to emoji wrong than mix up the entire nationality, in fairness

The real lesson here is: don’t mess with the Ireland emoji

That little thing is a source of pride.
