Artist plans to turn UK street into massive water slide for a day

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

YES, YOU READ that right. Best. Idea. Ever.

Artist Luke Jerram wants to turn a UK street into a 90-metre water slide, which would transport the citizens from the top of the hill to the bottom.

He plans to close the Park Street in Bristol on Sunday May 4, build the giant slide from ‘plastic sheeting and haybales’ and allow people to queue up and slide down for free.

Jerram is most well known for his Street Pianos project - he sets up pianos in cities all over the world, each bearing the instruction ‘Play me, I’m yours’.

According to The Guardian, he thought up his latest idea during last summer’s heatwave:

I’ve got an office on Park Street and I was just looking out the window and thought, how nice would it be to have a slide out there…

The artist is currently raising money for the Park and Slide project on a crowdfunding website – he says it will cost around £5,631. So far, over 200 people have pledged £1,880.

Last year, he did a test run of a 50m slide in a quieter part of town:

This sounds like AMAZING fun. Can we volunteer a particularly hilly street in Ireland? Suggestions on a postcard please.
