Post-mortems under way on brothers found dead at Sligo house

Both bodies were found at a house near Tubercurry.

Updated 7.10pm

POST-MORTEM EXAMINATIONS are under way this evening on the bodies of a nine-year-old boy and his 20-year-old brother, who were found dead at their home in Sligo yesterday evening.

Gardaí have confirmed their names as Brandon Skeffington (9) and Shane Skeffington (20).

Brandon was found with stab wounds at the family home in Banada near Tubercurry yesterday evening.

He was removed from the scene by air ambulance and taken to Sligo Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Shane was later found dead in an outside shed at the same location.

Gardaí  are investigating the possibility that the older brother stabbed the nine-year-old before taking his own life.

The scene in Banada is also near Tourlestrane and remains sealed off by Gardaí for an examination.
