Carla Bruni "pregnant", says her father-in-law

Nicolas Sarkozy’s father has said that Bruni is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

THE FIRST LADY of France is pregnant, according to her husband’s father.

Carla Bruni, a musician and model who is married to French president Nicolas Sarkozy, is said to be a number of months pregnant, according to Sarkozy’s father Pal.

Reuters reports that he told the German newspaper Bild that the couple do not want to know the sex of their child in advance.

There has been no official word from the couple about the pregnancy.

But rumours have been rife that they are expecting a baby after Bruni, 43, told a newspaper her “lips are sealed to protect something” when asked about a pregnancy, said Reuters.

This would be the first child for the couple – Bruni has a son and Sarkozy has three sons from his previous marriage. The couple married in 2007.
