THE IT CROWD originally aired from February 2006 – July 2010 and was one of Channel 4′s more successful workplace comedies. It produced the brilliant Chris O’Dowd and Richard Ayoade and gave many of us a good laugh.
Many fans did have some theories about the show which Chris O’Dowd, otherwise known as Roy addressed in a segment called ‘Actual fan theories we found on Reddit’ on James Corden’s show.
Now given the show aired its final episode in 2013, it’s not hard to see why Chris doesn’t look particularly enthused to discuss theories of a showing that ended 8 years ago.
The first theory addressed the idea that Roy and Moss worked in a fake department
The evidence for this theory included the fact that Reynholm Industries had a history of banishing employees and that Roy and Moss wouldn’t be enough to do the IT support for a full office building.
O’Dowd described this theory as ‘very likely’ because him and Moss ‘certainly feel like we’re being forced’. He did admit that the pair probably had Stockholm Syndrome which explains a lot about their behaviour throughout the show.
The second theory addresses Roy’s ex girlfriend Julia curious death of her parents
Evidence for this theory includes the fact that Julia never wants to talk about what happened and the fact that a number of fires would have had to be started simultaneously to kill her parents.
I mean the problem with entire premise is that who would believe there was a fire at a sea parks? That just seems unlikely.
CSI: Reddit strikes again.
The final theory examined if the 3 main characters had ulterior motives
Evidence? Well Roy is in the IRA, Jen is a young agent who works for MI5 and Moss works for the Issraeli Mossad and the fact that the business never seems to do ANY business at all so must be a front.
And what does Chris say to this theory?
The most ridiculous things about that whole thing is suggesting that Jen is young.
Harsh.
Was Roy in the IRA? Well he does have the qualifications based on the fact that A) He is Irish and b) He is Irish so he MUST be in the IRA. Also where does this leave Richmond? Is he an undercover operative in the goth section of Interpol? I NEED ANSWERS.
