Man charged with murdering wife is found dead in prison cell

Marius Sarzynski was found by prison staff last night.

A MAN CHARGED with the murder of his wife has been found dead in his cell in Cloverhill Prison on the same day he was returned to the prison.

Marius Sarzynski, 37, was found unresponsive by prison staff at about 10.30 pm last night and was treated at the scene before being removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí from Ronanstown were called to the scene shortly after the man was found and they have confirmed that foul play is not suspected in his death.

They are conducting their own investigations along with separate inquires being undertaken by prison authorities.

It is believed that Sarzynk took his own life as he was found with severe lacerations from which he died.

Sarzynski had only returned Cloverhill yesterday after receiving treatment due to injuries he sustained when he had jumped from a second floor window in Navan Courthouse last week. He is understood to have suffered hip injuries as a result of the fall.

Sarzynski had been charged with murdering his wife Aleksandra Sarzynska at an apartment in Navan last year.
