A SELF-DESCRIBED “inter-varsity, student humour and lifestyle” website has removed an article that told men how to “prey” on young women and get them drunk in order to have sex.
The piece, a ‘One Night Stand Guide – For Him’ on the CollegeTimes.ie was written by a woman Joanna Stroinska and used sexual violence references, comparing the sexual act to a “murder”.
The article, posted two days ago, has since been removed from the site following a backlash from readers and on Twitter.
The website has also had to issue a public apology to its sponsor 7UP for posting the article alongside advertisements for the brand. They described this as a “technical failure” on their behalf and editor Greta Dunne said she wanted to “make it clear that 7UP would never be associated with content of this type”.
Daddy issues
The step-by-step explainer suggests that the man should get his “prey” intoxicated by offering her some “shots” as “you want to establish that this isn’t love”.
Following this, Strionska writes “get her into a taxi ASAP” and once the man has her home, “don’t waste time with the nonsense of house tours to make her feel comfortable. This is an ‘in and out’ job.”
Again, to ensure you don’t get a clinger make sure the sex implies as little relationship qualities as possible.
Avoid kissing, bend her over and by all means – don’t look in her eyes!
“When the job is done”, Strionska suggests getting the female who preferably has “low self-esteem and potential daddy issues” into a “taxi back to where ever the hell she is going”.
Letting her stay the night once she’s sobered enough to comprehend her mistakes is a huge dagger in the one-night-stand code of ethics.
Controversy
Jamark Ltd. owns both the CollegeTimes.ie and Midnight a promotional company, which is no stranger to controversy.
Just two years ago, Midnight was caught in another controversy when it offered women at Tramco nightclub in Rathmines a free drink in exchange for their underwear.
Midnight also runs an event called This is Thursdays – T.I.T. at Play Nightclub on D’Olier Street, Dublin, which invites girls to send them pictures of their cleavage to get a free pass to the club:
The Facebook page has since been removed. Play Nightclub manager Chris Crowley would not make any comment when contacted by TheJournal.ie.
Following a number of messages from TheJournal.ie, the CollegeTimes.ie has posted a statement on their site explaining the post:
The article ‘One Night Stand – For Men’ was written by a woman to highlight, in a satirical fashion, behaviours that occur commonly within our society. The article was based on the observations of a student, College Times never intended to offend any of our readers.
When TheJournal.ie contacted Jamie White of Midnight for a comment he said “go away” and refused to comment further.
