Ahead of his eagerly anticipated fight with Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor appeared on Conan last night. Among other things, the pair chatted about the recent fan-led campaign to get McGregor’s face put on a €1 coin.
“If you get a certain amount of petitions, they must discuss it in the Oireachtas, which is like the government in Ireland,” McGregor explained. “And my fans backed me like crazy. They got a hell of a lot of petitions up to get my face printed on money and they discussed it.”
When I found out about it, I campaigned like crazy for it.
O’Brien then showed McGregor what such a coin might wind up looking like.
Later in the interview, McGregor demonstrated his signature kick on Conan O’Brien, a technique he described as being akin to swinging “your heel around like a baseball bat”.
