LITTLE MATILDA DIED when she was just three months old back in 2013.

Her parents Claire and Kristofer Gray were down from Belfast visiting Dublin Zoo earlier this week with Matilda’s little brother Archie, when they realised they had lost a doll that belonged to Matilda that was precious to the family.

As Claire recounted on Facebook yesterday:

Matilda was given a gorgeous little dolly with her name on it when she was born. We call her “Matilda Doll”. Matilda touched this doll. It was same size as her and is sooooo hugely precious to us. I’ve cuddled Matilda doll to sleep every night since Matilda passed away. She even came to hospital with me when Matilda’s baby brother Archie was born.

She goes with the family for all of Archie’s “firsts”

So, naturally, they had brought it with them to Dublin for the trip on Monday:

we brought Matilda doll too as Matilda never actually got to go to the zoo which breaks my heart

But in tragic circumstances the doll went missing in Phoenix Park:

Somewhere between the zoo shop, gate and Lord Walk’s carpark “Matilda doll” has gone missing. She means more than words can express. For us she is a piece of our little Matilda. I feel so stupid for losing her and very distressed.

Now Claire’s Facebook post asking people to search for the doll has been shared over 17,000 times in just 24 hours

She included pictures of Matilda and her doll so that it might be shared and the doll eventually found for the family

Good luck Claire, Kristofer and Matilda Doll. Hopefully she turns up safe and sound </3
