The Dublin Chinese New Year Festival returns to celebrate the lunar year for the Year of the Dog in 2018.

We’re not ones for massive new year celebrations in February, but this seems too brilliant to pass up.

If you’ve got a dog, or even just like dogs, there’s loads to do.

For example, The National Gallery of Ireland are holding a Year of the Dog Tour on Sunday February 25, celebrating dogs. LOADS of photos of dogs, what more could you actually want?

The Curious History Of Irish Dogs

If you want to draw your dog, well head to A4 Sounds St Joseph’s Parade, Inns Quay, on Thursday February 22. Eimhin McNamara of Paper Panther Productions will show you how to sketch a dog in a Dog Life Drawing Class. Amazing.

Dog Costume Art Workshop

If you’ve got kids, turn them into dogs! They’ll be nicer! The Dog Costume Art Workshop is taking place on Saturday the 17th, and will show your kids how to change themselves into cute little dogs. More info here.

Writer David Blake Knox wrote The Curious History of Irish Dogs and he’s taking some time out on Wednesday the 28th to fill you in on the history of dogs in Irish history. Will he finally explain the Saoirse Ronan Aer Lingus sketch? A Chinese artist, Angela Wang, will create live illustrations throughout.

Tall Tail

The Smock Alley is then hosting Tall Tail, a musical adventure suitable for all dog lovers. It sounds super cute. More info here.

Besides dogs, there’s also a Dumpling Day, Guinness Brewery tours in Mandarin, and a whole load of food events.
