These two guys are visiting every single Dublin pub snug and they've come across some gems

Doing god’s work.

THE SNUG IS the cosiest addition to any classic Irish pub, and the capital has its fair share of great ones.

So, with their legendary status in mind, two Dubliners set out to visit every single one in the city.

And it’s going well so far

The DublinSnugs Instagram is run by David and Mark and has been going strong since last August.

They not only visit snugs around town, but they also review them over a pint of Guinness and share their results.

They tell DailyEdge.ie why snugs are just wonderful things:

So many elements of the pub snug appeal to us. Firstly, it’s the cosy atmosphere a snug gives you, in the hustle and bustle of a busy pub a snug is that more intimate spot where you can have a good chat over a pint and catch up with friends. The sense of history also appeals to us in a big way, as others have sat and drank in these very snugs for generations before us and will do so for many generations to come.

From Doheny & Nesbitt to Keogh’s, they’re making their way through some of Dublin’s finest establishments

So, how did they come up with the idea to actually start posting reviews? Well, naturally, their sincere love of a good snug was a starting point:

We realised pretty quickly through many pub visits together that we both had a common love for the traditional Irish snug, located in many Dublin pubs. One of our mates would often slag us, as with any pub visit we would always go searching to see if they had a snug. It would always prove to be a massive bonus if it did and in our heads, made the pub in question a small bit better! We thought it would be a great idea to document the various snugs that we visited and give them a unique review.

From humble beginnings, the lads are planning to hit *every* snug in Dublin, and aren’t ruling out going nationwide in their search for a good snug

Forget snugs for a second, these two clearly know their Dublin pubs. What are their favourites?

For David, it’s Peter’s pub in the city centre – the small, cosy pub with bags of character and the “best Guinness in Dublin”

While Mark goes for The Blue Light in the foothills of the Dublin mountains – well known for its stunning views over the city

They both agree on the best snug they’ve encountered so far though:

Slattery’s in Rathmines, which was our second ever review – it has a fantastic snug which we really thought was a diamond in the rough. It ticked all the boxes of a traditional Irish snug and drinking there really brought us back in time to a more simple pub era that our parents and grandparents would have experienced.

And it looks as good as it sounds

They’re two men that are well aware of their Dublin pub forefathers

And they’re a must follow on Instagram for the pure aesthetic of a pub snug alone

Their review of Rody Bolands’ snug is an example of what you can expect in the caption:

This intricate snug is unlike any we have come across before – your own sectioned off area at the bar counter itself. As this snug is ideal for two, date night or a catch up with an old mate would be all too fitting for this area!

Keep up the good work lads.
