VALENTINE’S DAY IS just around the corner and you know what that means — restaurant tables are being snapped up left, right and centre.
Don’t know where to go?
Here’s a few places to start with…
1. Pichet, Trinity Street, Dublin 2
The city centre eatery is one of the most popular date night spots and with good reason — it offers quality food and a relaxed atmosphere at fairly reasonably prices. It didn’t get a Bib Gourmand for nothing, you know.
2. Delahunt, Camden Street
This Camden Street restaurant has become a favourite amongst foodies for its inventive menu and craft cocktails. Like Pichet, it was awarded a Bib Gourmand and we can’t recommend it enough.
Keep your fingers crossed you get the coveted window seat.
3. Bastible, South Circular Road
It’s still a relatively new player on the scene, but Bastible has quickly ascended the ranks to become one of the most talked about restaurants in Dublin.
With its chilled out atmosphere and mindblowing menu, it’s a winner. And sure you can nip over the road to The Headline when you’re done for a pint to wash it all down.
4. L’Ecrivain, Baggot Street Lower
For those of you craving something fancy, L’Ecrivain should be your first port of call. Check out their Valentine’s Day Dinner Menu.
5. The Port House, South William Street
Looking for something low-key and casual that doesn’t scrimp on the atmosphere? With its excellent tapas and summery sangria, The Port House is a winner.
6. L’Gueuleton, Fade Street
For hearty French cuisine and some of the best French Onion soup in the city, get thee to L’Gueuleton. (Bonus: you won’t have to look hard to find somewhere to go for a post-meal drink.)
7. Terra Madre, Bachelor’s Walk
Because what’s more romantic than authentic Italian food and wine? This place will have you singing That’s Amore before you know where you are.
8. Rotana, Richmond Street
On a budget? Look no further than Rotana Café, a charming Lebanese joint on Richmond Street that serves up ace falafel and is BYOW. Win win.
9. The Greenhouse, St. Stephen’s Green
Pricey, sure, but if you want to drink bubbles and feel sophisticated, look no further than this Stephen’s Green haunt.
10. Chapter One, Parnell Square
A bona fide institution at this stage. They don’t hand out those Michelin Stars to anyone, you know. On the pricier end of the scale, but we’re assured it’s worth it.
(Note: according to the website, Chapter One isn’t open on Sundays, so you might have to make do with celebrating on February 13th.)
11. Etto, Merrion Row
Intimate and inviting, Etto does some of the best food in the city. Top tip: the cote de bouef serves two and is divine.
13. The Pigeon House, Clontarf
And for those of you who want to venture outside of the city centre without spending an arm and a leg, The Pigeon House is a solid bet. Just try and tell us your mouth doesn’t want a raspberry macaroon with chocolate cremeux and frozen yoghurt right this second.
