Ed Sheeran 'breached royal protocol' by touching Prince Charles' arm in Buckingham Palace yesterday... it's The Dredge

All the celeb dirt. Come get it.

EVERY WEEKDAY MORNING, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the best of the day’s celebrity dirt from the top to the very bottom.

Ed Sheeran was in Buckingham Palace yesterday to receive his MBE from Prince Charles.

He won’t be Sir Ed, but the MBE is the first rung in the hierarchy of Orders given out by the royal family, with the top one being a knighthood.

Some royal observers noted that Sheeran broke protocol by touching Prince Charles’ arm when he shook his hand:

Hardly a grave offence, but those royal circles are bet into tradition – as The Mirror reports:

While receiving the honour from Prince Charles, he touched the future king’s arm. Royal etiquette means that touching shouldn’t go beyond a formal handshake.

Guards, arrest that man!

Charles didn’t seem to mind, with Ed describing what they chatted about when he received the MBE:

He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records and I told him I’ve got a concert in New York tomorrow, and he was quite surprised I was flying after this.

A proud day for Ed – as long as he remembers not to touch people of a higher caste in future.

Vogue Williams has denied the rumours that she’s engaged to Spencer Matthews.

They had originally sprung up thanks to this photo Matthews put up on Instagram yesterday:

A representative told The Sun that the speculation wasn’t true:

Spencer and Vogue are not engaged. The picture is flipped and the ring is on her right hand, not her left.

The “Yep” caption was slightly misleading, but you can’t fault their logic.

Yesterday, Time Magazine named The Silence Breakers as their Person of the Year for 2017 – with President Donald Trump in second place.

Demi Lovato was one of many that took issue with Trump’s place on the list:

She acknowledged the list isn’t actually an accolade or award – it’s just given those who ”for better or worse have done the most to influence the events of the year” – but still thought it was disrespectful given who came in first place and the allegations against the President.
