IS THERE ANY scenario more awkward than going for a date and seeing your ex?
Apparently, yes. You could end up going on a date with someone who introduces you to their ex wife, who’s also on a date at the table across from you. That’s exactly what happened to one poor woman on Channel 4′s First Dates last night.
The date began with Stuart and Claire discussing their relationship history. Stuary admitted that he had been married once, but he couldn’t stop laughing.
Claire got pretty nervous. Who wouldn’t? She asked Stuart to explain why he was laughing so much. When he told her that his ex-wife was sitting at the table across from them, she said “You’re joking me. Please tell me you’re having a laugh.”
Claire was fairly disgusted, but she handled it better than most people would have.
She asked “Why is she here?” Stuart replied “We came together.” YIKES. Then the cameras cut to Stuart’s ex-wife Mandy, who was trying to explain the situation to her own date.
Things were a little bit easier for Mandy. Her date told her that he had been divorced 10 years, and she basically like “Me too!” She then confessed that her ex-husband was sitting just a few feet away.
There was plenty of stuttering, as Mandy tried to explain the completely bizarre situation that everybody was in.
Mandy’s date shouted across the table to Stuart’s date and asked “What do you think about it?” and she replied “I don’t know. I think it’s a bit strange.” Claire then suggested swapping tables so that Mandy could share a few tales about Stuart.
Viewers couldn’t handle the awkwardness.
