Matteo was the unsung hero of this week's First Dates Ireland to be honest

The Maitre ‘D was on a love buzz.

FIRST DATES IRELAND was as wholesome as ever this week.

Music graduate Jordan serenaded nanoscience student Una, and had a great conversation about sexual fluidity in between.

All in a day’s work. (And despite being surprised Jordan was a man, they are going on a second date. Cute!)

Corporate crisis manager Killian tried to win over hopeless romantic Michelle, and convince the public that East Cork was superior to West Cork.

It didn’t really pan out for them, with Killian admitting he wasn’t on top form – PLEASE can we get them new dates for the next series though? They deserve it.

This couple had ALREADY SHIFTED BEFORE.

The face of someone who is genuinely unable.

But can we admit that Matteo was the REAL hero of the night?

He was throwing out some absolute crackers.

First, he admitted techno music “put him in the mood”.

“Yeah, throw on Carl Cox there and let’s go.”

He tried to say, “go on ya good thing!” in a French accent.

He also made it very clear he was in charge of his own wardrobe.

… And he had no time for the couple who had already met:

Nathan: “We actually know each other!”
Matteo: “Well, then, you can meet each other even more now.”

Never change, Matteo.
