NOTHING SAYS HAPPY Valentine’s Day like a free divorce.
That’s what one US lawyer thinks anyway.
Walter H. Bentley III ran a competition for unhappy couples on his website this week.
They had to tell him why they wanted to get divorced, with the top prize – a free one – going to the pair with the best reason for splitting
In an interview with Click On Detroit, Bentley – who ran the same competition last year – said that people were finding it far too costly to separate these days so he wanted to offer a free divorce to a couple who really needed it.
He revealed that almost 600 people had entered the competition in 2013, and said he was eager to help more unhappy couples part ways:
People want to move on. I’m trying to help them have a very happy Valentine’s Day in 2015.
Bentley’s competition proved even more popular this year: He took to Facebook to reveal that he’d had so many applications that his website crashed and the deadline for entries had to be extended.
There’s still no word on the winners, but we’re guessing one unhappy couple are having a fabulous February 14th.
