The spire was made in small sections. A simple engineer job. Tanks of that size are far more complex with a lot of motors sensors etc. Not a normal job you give to a small Irish company. This is specialist work

Ignorance of the engineering that is required to monitor these tanks on hundreds of levels. Spire just stands straight up with wind the major factor. With these yokes, heat, pressure levels etc. all have to be monitored exactly.

Better class of stout made in Dungarvan too.

If made down here in waterford I would imagine it would still be loaded onto a ship and sailed up the east coast.. Road transport of that yoke would be mental.

Prob not pat. Unfortunately we prob were not the cheapest quote. Goes back to my views on buying Irish. I try my best to buy Irish as often as i can but when certain companies continue to rip people off i wont be rewarding them with my hard earned money.

Plenty of engineering firms more than capable of doing the work.

Don’t think anyone would doubt that, Pat. It was more than likley cost. Irish companies need to wake up to the real cost and value of products and services.

don’t think we actually have any firms that can do it,
you need a overhead crane capable to lift this oversized tank within an warehouse, dont have the lads able to wield these tanks, plus the cost of metal here is more expensive due to importing it.. used to work in a company that built parts of the Dublin port tunnel..and this is what the owner said about projects like the above.

Sorry pat but you do realise they are an irish branded company and nothing more. Back in the troubles they were going to leave Ireland as they thought the english wouldn’t buy there product. Vats and tanks like that are made by specialist companies i have yet to see an Irish company make them to that size or tech specs. They are creating a lot if jobs on that site with construction and full time jobs down the line. I for one applaud there investment there.
