PICS: Guinness tanks move through Dublin overnight

GARDAÍ WARNED YESTERDAY that an “abnormal load” would travel from Dun Laoghaire Port to St James Gate between 10pm yesterday and 3am today.

The convoy featured ten giant Guinness silos, each capable of holding up to one million pints of stout.

The vats arrived at the Carlisle Pier earlier this month on the vessel MV Myrte. The tanks are some 22 metres long, 6.6 metres wide and 5.4 metres high.

According to Celtic Forwarding transport group, the silos will be used in the Guinness brewery extension.
