SO, IN CASE you haven’t heard, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged.
The singer confirmed the news in a massively long winded Instagram post:
Was gonna wait a while to say anything but word travels fast, listen plain and simple Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you! So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY.
I promise to lead our family with honor and integrity letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make. My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first!
You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else. You make me so much better and we compliment eachother so well!! Can’t wait for the best season of life yet!.”
It literally goes on for another three paragraphs but whatever.
Anyway, the internet has done has the internet tends to do and done a deep dive on the pair’s relationship – more specifically, Baldwin herself.

This has included a good rinse of her socials – sure, the Beliebers have to make sure she’s not potentially problematic.
A good rifle through her Twitter has unearthed some old tweets which prove very interesting as they concern Bieber’s past – and possibly most public – relationship with Selena Gomez.
As it turns out, Baldwin’s been #TeamJelena this whole time. Awkward.
Hashtag word, indeed.

In an even weirder premonition the model was previously photographed holding a magazine emblazoned with the subhead: “Why Selena knows she won’t marry Justin”. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn! (You can see the photo here).
The pair have known each other since they were kids, so they’re engagement isn’t massively surprising. The pair previously denied they were in a relationship via their socials (obvs) in 2014.
In 2016, the pair seemed to make it official – Instagram official, at least.
But Bieber late told GQ that he wasn’t a serious relationship.
[Baldwin is] someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together. I already have a lot that I have to commit to. A lot of responsibilities. I don’t want to feel like the girl I love is an added responsibility.”
The singer then proceeded to predict his own future:
What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged. It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard… I just don’t want to hurt her.”
As the old saying goes – if you like it, put it a ring on it.
Meanwhile, Gomez has just been chilling on a boat, minding her own business.
