The thief/flower enthusiast met the 3pm deadline for coming forward.

A NEWSAGENTS IN Terenure has been contacted by the person who was stealing their hanging baskets.

The shop had been planning to ‘name and shame’ a man who made off with the store’s hanging baskets on Monday night.

The Facebook page of Noonan’s Checkout has stated that contact has been made with the man and that owners of the shop have arranged to meet with the man.

Members of the public were also thanked for sharing CCTV images of the alleged crime in progress that had been posted to their Facebook page on Tuesday, with the following message from owner, Bryan Noonan:

“To the genius who stole my hanging baskets last night I would like to give you the opportunity to return them to the store and to reimburse for the damage you caused!!

I try to keep a nice shop and work every hour there is possible to earn a living for me and my staff so you have till Friday at 3pm to return what was taken and pay for the damage caused or else your photo will be shared with your face in full show all over the Internet including the footage from other stores as well.

Blown-up images of the CCTV footage had been ordered by the southside Dublin shop – and they had been set to reveal them outside the store at 3pm this afternoon.

“At the end of the day they were our property,” owner Noonan said, speaking to this morning’s John Murray show on RTÉ.

The baskets had been well-secured, and the man who took them went to some effort to remove them.
