Let's see if our 2018 predictions from a psychic chihuahua were right in the end

Spider did not manage to predict the snow, but he predicted basically everything else.

ON THE VERY first day of 2018, we published some predictions for the year which were made by my three-year-old chihuahua, Spider.

We asked him some important questions about what 2018 had in store for us, and asked him some ‘yes’ and ‘no’ questions before allowing him to eat from a bowl underneath the corresponding answer and give us his opinion. How many did he get wrong? How many did he get right? Well, we’re about to tell you.

Q1. Will Donald Trump be impeached in 2018?

Spider’s answer: “No!”

Was he right? Yes. (Unless something wild happens in the White House over the next couple of days).

Q2. Will Conor McGregor die in 2018?

Spider’s answer: “No!”

Was he right? Again, yes. (Unless he gets into a serious fight at Funderland this year).

Q3. Will Linda lose her virginity?

(Remember, all of these questions were asked by the public – this one was asked by Linda herself).

Spider’s answer: “Yes.”

Was he right? No. Linda will have to wait until 2019. Perhaps there was a conflict of interests here because Spider just wanted the best for Linda.

Q4. Will Catalonia achieve independence in 2018?

Spider’s answer: “No.”

Was he right? Yes, but once again, there’s still a few days left to go.

Q5. Will young people be able to afford their own properties in 2018?

Spider’s answer: “No.”

Was he right? Well, yeah.

Q6. Is Kylie Jenner really pregnant?

Spider’s answer: “Yes.”

Was he right? Yep, absolutely.

Q7. Will there be any updates on Metro North?

Spider’s answer: “No.”

Was he right? Not really. They renamed it to MetroLink this year and announced that it’ll cost €3 billion.

Q8. Will dogs revolt in 2019?

Spider’s answer: “No.”

Was he right? Yes. This might take another year or two.

Q9. Will Bitcoin collapse in the first half of 2018?

Spider’s answer: “No.”

Was he right? Arguably, yes. It was well on the way from January, but Bitcoin’s value was at its lowest in the second half of the year, towards the end of summer. We’ll give him a half a point for this one.

Q10. Is Spider excited for Year of the Dog?

This one wasn’t a prediction, so we won’t count it at the end but Spider answered “Yes.” As far as I could see, he had a nice year. He loved the snow in March and also had fun during the heatwave. Here’s a photograph of him at a BBQ in June.

So, how did Spider’s predictions hold up?

Pretty good. Of the 9 predictions Spider made for 2018, he got 2.5 of them incorrect. In total Spider’s score was 6.5/9. Stay tuned to see what he has got to say about 2019!
