IT’S OSCAR SEASON, which means that week after week massive films are being released in cinema. From the Wolf of Wall Street to American Hustle, the choice is rich at the moment.
However, the Oscar films did not win the battle for first place when it came to making money last weekend. No, last weekend belonged to The Monkey King, which earned $46 million in cinemas across China, substantially more than any American film.
The 3D film tells the story of a powerful monkey and is based on mythological story from China’s 16th century.
