Poll: Have you stuck to your New Year's resolutions?

It’s never too late.

IT’S ONE YEAR since the untimely death of Gerry Collins, who took part in the HSE’s QUIT campaign.

Gerry made a series of inspiring videos before his passing, advising smokers to give up and not face the tough road he had travelled fighting cancer.

His family got involved, and his words of wisdom and gratitude for what he had touched thousands of Irish people – and prompted many to put down the cigarettes.

This is the time of year that many people are re-assessing their New Year’s resolutions – and seeing what stuck.

But, as Gerry’s story proves, any time of the year is the right time. According to HSE Quit:

Most smokers make a few attempts to quit before it finally works, and each attempt gets you closer to quitting for good. Also, getting some help and support will double your chances of success.

So – a year on, or a few months on - we’re asking you…

Have you stuck to your resolutions?

Poll Results:

No - but I'm going to try again (1178)
Yes - and I'm feeling good about it (1099)
Bit of both (922)

Getting help quitting smoking will double your chances of success. The HSE’s QUIT Team are ready to help you get started, or to get you back on track.  Call them on Freephone 1800201203, set up your QUITplan or live chat on www.quit.ie, tweet @HSEquitteam, visit the You can QUIT Facebook page, or talk to your GP or pharmacist.
