Shelbourne Hotel and Castle Leslie are apparently some of Ireland's 'most haunted' spots

According to Travel Channel, anyway.

US TELEVISION CHANNEL Travel Channel has compiled a list of the most haunted places in Ireland in honour of Halloween.

The list contains fifteen sites that are purported to be haunted in one way or another including castles, hotels and lakes. As Travel Channel puts it, the stories are “so shocking you’ll want to leave the lights on.”

Among those listed?

Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel, which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a six-year-old girl who died of cholera in 1791. Similarly, celebrity wedding haunt Castle Leslie is described as being “supposedly inhabited by Norman Leslie”.

Hill of Tara is also included on the list. At a stretch, we might add. Here they are trying their best to make a stone seem spooky.

Locals say you can feel a vibration of energy from this stone.

Ooh, scary.

Others on the list include Charleville Castle, Kilmainham Jail, Wicklow Gaol, Leap Castle and Kinnity Castle Hotel.

Controversially, Loftus Hall appears to have been excluded from the list.

Probably ’cause it’s just too scary.
