VIDEO: Here's the surprising thing an Irish butler brings with him everywhere

Sean Davoren is a Limerick-born butler who works in the Savoy Hotel in London. Here are his tricks of the trade.

WHEN YOU’RE A butler at London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel, you make sure your guests feel at home, and then some.

Limerick man Seán Davoren has been head butler at the Savoy for four years, and has done almost anything you can think of to keep guests happy (once it’s not against the law, of course).

He’s filled baths with goats milk for picky bathers, ironed newspapers, sprinkled petals in bathtubs, and organised countless wardrobes.

He’s in town tonight for the launch of the Gaslight Brasserie and Oyster Grill Restaurant at Galway’s Hotel Meyrick, where he will be giving a talk called ‘What Secrets Does a Butler Keep?’.

We caught up with him to find out about one of those secrets – the item he brings with him everywhere:
