Jennifer Lawrence said that shooting naked scenes in her latest movie was an ‘actual nightmare’. Jennifer plays a Russian spy who falls for a CIA officer and considers becoming a double agent.
She told Sunrise that the nude scenes were like ‘that nightmare that you have’, standing up in front of the class naked.
She went on to explain that she almost chickened out of the scenes.
I had to really think about it before I even said yes to the movie.
I couldn’t say yes… and then be like ‘can we not use those scenes’. The only way to do the movie is if I’m willing to push myself as far as my character is forced to go.
Jennifer, of course, was the victim of hackers who stole her private photos back in 2014. She revealed that getting naked in the film on her own terms was empowering to her, in an interview with CBS’ 60 minutes.
I read this script that I’m dying to do. And the one thing that’s getting in my way is nudity. And I realized there’s a difference between consent and not. And I showed up for the first day and I did it. And I felt empowered. I feel like something that was taken from me I got back and am using in my art.
