WE ALL KNOW that there’s no love lost between Piers Morgan and Little Mix.
Last month, the band and the broadcaster became embroiled in a war of words when the Good Morning Britain presenter criticised their decision to pose naked to promote their latest single.
Piers questioned their motives, Jesy called him a ‘silly twat’, and fans wasted no time indicating that their support lay with the four women.
Today, Piers focussed his attention specifically on Jesy after the 27-year-old showcased her selection of new tattoos on Instagram.
Unsurprisingly, Piers was far from impressed. And interestingly, neither were many of the singer’s fans.
Among a smattering of new inkings, Jesy revealed a gun tattoo on her torso – something which has, given the current climate, left a bad taste in many people’s mouths.
Commenting on his morning television show, Piers said:
This great role model to millions of women, who really wants to empower them, has had a new tattoo put on herself… As gun crime in this country begins to tick up.
Dismissing co-host Susanna Reid’s defence that ‘guns are metaphors’, Piers replied: “They’re not metaphors. They’re things that kill people.”
Little Mix fans have always been fierce in their defence of the band - especially if Piers is doing the criticising – but it seems that this issue may cause them to question their loyalty on this occasion.
The comments beneath Jesy’s upload are littered with remarks which berate her for glorifying gun culture.
Why oh why gen a gun? How disrespectful to anyone who’s lost someone through gun violence. It’s not cool in any way Jesy and it’s such a shame. WTF?
Do you know how many young girls follow you? What kind of message are you portraying? Disgusting.
With all the violence happening in the world especially surrounding young minds, why would you get a gun?
Jesy has since deleted the series of photos from Instagram.
