JUSTIN BIEBER has been arrested on suspicion of drag racing and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Miami Beach Police Department confirmed 19-year-old Bieber’s arrest this morning in a tweet. Police say the pop star was drag racing on Miami Beach early today, along with R&B singer Khalil who was also arrested.
Bieber was driving a Lamborghini and Khalil was driving a Ferrari, police said.
According to the official police report, officers arresting Bieber said he had a “flushed face” and “bloodshot eyes” at the time.
Television footage showed a van thought to be carrying Bieber from a Miami Beach police station to a Miami-Dade County jail. The van, with blacked-out windows, was trailed by squad cars. After the van left the station, police said Bieber was gone.
The arrest comes on the heels of another controversy for Bieber. Officials have said that detectives in California recently searched Bieber’s home looking for surveillance footage that might serve as evidence the pop star was involved in an egg-tossing vandalism case that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a neighbour’s home.
In that case, authorities arrested one member of Bieber’s entourage on suspicion of drug possession.
