When a Twitter user sarcastically tried to explain her own joke to her (give us strength), she had the best reply.

As for the guy at the centre of the tweets? Cunningham told Buzzfeed that they had a chat and he maintains that he was merely “playing along”.
He says he was playing along, and we had a pretty legit talk about the fact that sarcastic or ironic misogyny is inadvisable on a platform where you can’t read tone.
