FORMER MANCHESTER UNITED and Celtic midfielder Liam Miller is on the hunt for a new club after being released by Brisbane Roar.
The 33-year-old has been granted an immediate release from his contract to ‘pursue other football opportunities’.
Miller joined the A-League club in May 2013 on a two-year deal having turned down a contract extension at Perth Glory.
He made 24 appearances for Brisbane Roar as the club won the A-League title last season but had recently fallen out of favour with manager Mike Mulvey. Reports in Australia suggest he failed to show for a reserve team game at the weekend.
“We brought Liam here to strengthen our squad and play good quality football – he was an integral part of our success as a squad last season and we thank him for his service to the club,” Mulvey said.
“It’s always disappointing to lose a player of Liam’s calibre but both player and club decided this was the best outcome. We wish him and his family all the best for his future.”
Since his departure from Old Trafford, Miller has played for six clubs in the space of eight years. He made 21 appearances for Ireland and scored his only goal against Sweden in 2006.
