Liam Neeson still 'struck by grief' over death of wife Natasha Richardson

The former Oscar nominee has opened up about his wife’s death in an interview with Esquire magazine.

IRISH ACTOR LIAM NEESON has spoken publicly about the death of his wife for the first time in two years.

The 58-year-old was left devastated by the death of his actress wife Natasha Richardson.

Richardson died shortly after being involved in a skiing accident in Canada in March 2009.

In an interview with Esquire magazine Neeson has spoken about the events following his wife’s tragic death.

The Schindler’s List star said that he immersed himself in work in the aftermath of her death.

However he told the magazine that this eventually caught up with him:

That’s the weird thing about grief.

You can’t prepare for it. You think you’re gonna cry and get it over with. You make those plans, but they never work.

It hits you in the middle of the night – well, it hits me in the middle of the night.

I’m out walking. I’m feeling quite content. And it’s like suddenly, boom. It’s like you’ve just done that in your chest.
