Lingerie shop staff object to bra sizes on name tags

Employees at the Swedish lingerie chain Change say they are told to wear tags displaying their names and bras sizes – and receive demerits if they fail to do so.

A SWEDISH LINGERIE shop has come under fire by female employees who object to being asked to display their bra size on their name tags.

Speaking to the Swedish union Handelsnytt, an anonymous employee said that the policy had led to “dirty old men” coming into the shop to ogle sales assistants.

“Why should everyone get to know that?” she said “Guys selling underwear don’t have to show their size”.

Another employee told the paper she considered her bust circumference and cup size to be “private” information.

After complaints by a number of employees, the Commercial Employees’ Union is threatening to sue over the “demeaning” name tags, reports FashionEtc.

However, the company’s CEO, Susann Haglund said she didn’t understand the problem. Haglund said the tags, which had been used for the past three years, had been an idea of the employees themselves – and that wearing them was voluntary.

She explained the tags were simply meant to aid customers in choosing which garments were right for their body shape.

But employees have disagreed with Haglund’s assertions. One woman told Handelsnytt: “When you start, you receive a document which states that ‘name tag with size is always worn’, so to me that doesn’t reflect that it was voluntary.”

She added that mystery shoppers report workers who do not wear tags displaying their name and bra size, and that employees subsequently receive demerits.
