Man critical after being shot at fast food restaurant

A separate shooting incident in the city saw a man shot in both kneecaps.

A MAN IN north Belfast has sustained a suspected gunshot wound to the head.

The incident happened in the vicinity of a fast food outlet on Oldpark Road this evening.

Police have come forward to the public requesting any information that anyone might have in connection with the incident.

The suspected shooting was reported to the PSNI at around 5.40pm this evening.

A blue coloured Vauxhall Astra estate car was seen to make off from the scene of the incident. A car matching this description was found burnt out a short time later on the nearby Torrens Gardens.

Speaking this evening, Inspector James Murphy, said:

The injured man is currently in hospital being treated for his wounds and has been described as being in a critical condition. The full details of this incident have yet to be established and our enquiries are continuing.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information or who witnessed what happened to come forward to Tennent Street station on 04890650222.

Other incident 

In a seperate, unrelated incident a man was shot in both legs in the New Lodge area of north Belfast this evening.

Police received the report of the incident at around 7.55pm and the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
