EVERY WEEKDAY MORNING, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the best of the day’s celebrity dirt from the top to the very bottom.
All the stars are set to descend on Ashford Castle in Mayo this weekend for the wedding of Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll.
Celeb bestie Niall Horan, fellow Norn Irishman Jamie Dornan and Coldplay are all set to be attending the lavish bash on Saturday – with a rumour floating around that Stevie Wonder might be playing too.
Here’s a preview of the dancefloor moves at 3am:
Not a bad spot for a wedding either:
As The Mirror reports, the castle has been booked out since Wednesday right up until Sunday – and the whole shebang will cost them €250,000. Mere pocket change for McIlroy, of course, as evidenced by the arrangements for the in-laws:
Erica’s family and friends are believed to have flown into Shannon over the past couple of days on United and Aer Lingus flights from Newark and JFK, with the couple laying on luxury buses to bring them to Ashford.
No Bus Éireann for you lads.
If Erica and Rory look into each other’s eyes the way he does with our Niall, then this should be a very, very successful marriage:
We know that Conor McGregor was named in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list yesterday.
Well, so was Ed Sheeran – and his blurb was written by none other than Taylor Swift.
Get the sick back out though, because this is saccharine sweet stuff:
As a young, precocious redheaded boy growing up in Framlingham, Suffolk, Ed Sheeran decided he wanted to be a musician. He started writing songs and playing instruments like so many hopefuls do, but something very different happened that would set in motion one of the most impressive self-made careers in music.
And it gets worse from there.
Whether by choice or an unconscious evolution, when he decided on his musical ambitions, Ed became less of a boy and more of a tank. He is protected by an impenetrable and ever-present armor of enthusiasm that has helped him endure any setback, letdown or underestimation. His reaction to any idea that fails is to almost immediately come up with a new one. He’s like a fighter who pops back up on his feet before you even noticed he’d been knocked down.
Less of a boy and more of a tank!
A few years ago, in a rare moment of admitting feeling defeated, Ed said to me, ‘I’m never going to win a Grammy.’ Yes, you are, I said. You’re going to sweep the whole thing one of these years. It was a few weeks later when he met me in a dance-shoe store in London, where I was picking out rehearsal outfits, and said, ‘You have to hear this.’ It was a song he’d just finished called ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ which went on to win Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2016.
Congratulations to my friend Ed, for the legacy you’ve already built and the brilliant hook you probably just came up with five minutes ago.
Somewhere, Ed is blushing like a… tank? (Billboard)
Ryan Reynolds has finally seen that tattoo some lad got on his arse because of Reynolds’ Twitter.
Yes, let’s explain that sentence.
Last month Twitter user @poolspidey tweeted at the Deadpool star that he’d get a tattoo of his name if Reynolds faved his tweet.
Reynolds duly obliged:
And poolspidey followed through on his end of the deal:
Reynolds only got around to seeing it last night:
Regrets, he’s had a few.
