People are now calling for Myleene Klass to be dropped as the face of Littlewoods

It’s after she debated a potential mansion tax with Ed Miliband earlier this week.

A PETITION CALLING for Myleene Klass to be dropped as the face of Littlewoods has gained over 2,400 signatures in the wake of her comments on a proposed ‘mansion tax’.

On Monday night, the former Hear’Say singer appeared on ITV’s The Agenda to debate mansion tax with UK Labour leader Ed Miliband.

Under the proposed measure, the Labour party has pledged to bring in high taxes on homes worth over £2 million, which Klass is not particularly happy about.

She said the term ‘mansion tax’ would be misleading, as many expensive properties in London are tiny:

You may as well just tax me on this glass of water. You can’t just point at things and tax them.

While some praised Klass for holding her own against Miliband, others felt she was out of touch with the rest of the country. In response to her comments, a Change.org petition was set up, calling for her to be dropped as the face of online retail company Littlewoods.

Fiona Higgins of Glasgow, who set up the petition, says her comments were “deeply insensitive and ignorant” towards Littlewoods’ pay-weekly customers:

Ms Klass (estimated net worth £11m) showed a complete lack of class when she made comments about the unfairness of this tax on the super-wealthy of British society who make up less than 0.05% of the population.
Littlewoods, this is not acceptable conduct or words to speak publicly in such appalling economic times.

At the moment, the petition has gained just over 2,480 signatures.

Littlewoods have yet to comment on the petition.
