ATTENTION, TOM HARDY FANS! The Tom Hardy mini-series you’ve been wishing for is on the way. The period drama follows an adventurer who returns to Britain after ten years in Africa to wreak revenge on those who wronged his father.

Looks… intense.

4. A Series of Unfortunate Events

Netflix, January 13th 2017

Revisit your Lemony Snicket obsession with Netflix’s new television adaptation. It stars Neil Patrick Harris and, best of all, it’s written by Daniel Handler, the man behind the Lemony Snicket persona. We can hardly contain our excitement.

5. Crashing

You may know Pete Holmes from the very popular podcast You Made It Weird. But you’re about to see much more of him in 2017 when his Judd Apatow-produced autobiographical comedy debuts on HBO.

6. The Handmaid’s Tale

Bound to be one of the most talked-about series next year. An adaptation of the beloved Margaret Atwood novel of the same name and starring Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss in the lead role. Can you cope?

7. Big Little Lies

The great migration from film to television continues with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley starring in this miniseries next year, which follows a “group of a moms whose perfect lives begin to unravel”.

Something tells us that this will be best consumed with a glass of red wine.

8. Taken

Will Taken work on telly without Liam Neeson’s gravelly voice? Who knows! But we’re intrigued nonetheless.

9. The Santa Clarita Diet

Netflix, 3rd February 2017

This new dark comedy from Netflix stars Drew Barrymore and Justified’s Timothy Olyphant as a husband-wife duo, whose lives are sent down a road of “death and destruction” after Barrymore undergoes a major life change.

A bingeworthy comedy starring Drew Barrymore sounds just like what the doctor ordered, if you ask us.

10. The Deuce

A 1970s set drama about the porn industry in New York. It comes from David Simon, the man behind The Wire, and stars James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Expect lots of interesting moustaches.

11. Twin Peaks

The long-awaited reboot of the cult television series is slated to debut in the first half of 2017. Be still our beating hearts.

12. American Crime Story

After last year’s brilliant dramatic retelling of the OJ Simpson trial, American Crime Story returns in 2017. This time, the focus will be Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. No word yet on when it’s due to air, but something tells us we’ll be hearing a lot about it.
