New Zealand school bans hugging

No love is being spread at Upper Hutt school.

A SCHOOL IN New Zealand has banned its students from hugging.

The ban was introduced at Upper Hutt intermediate school after two students were given detention for hugging a friend, TVNZ reports.

A notice informing students of the ban was put on the school’s website telling students to respect each other’s personal space.

The principal of the school told TVNZ News “What we have said to the children is that as a day to day way of going about greeting and farewelling each other, it’s not ok”.

The mother of one of the girls justified her daughter’s actions to the TV station stating that they were hugging a friend from another school who they had not seen for some time.
