Tuned out

An irate Daniel O'Donnell fan called up a radio station in Sligo

He commented that Daniel was singing off-key at the Rose of Tralee. Big mistake. HUGE.

IF YOU WERE watching the Rose of Tralee last night, you would have been treated to a performance by the lovely Daniel O’Donnell.

The veteran singer performed a few ditties, and shocked and delighted the viewers at home with some very raunchy moves:

One person who was not so impressed was Niall Delaney of Sligo’s Ocean FM, who thought Wee Daniel had been singing out of tune and said as much on his show this morning.

It wasn’t long before a listener and staunch Daniel O’Donnell fan going by the name of Ita called up to tell him he was extremely wrong on this point.

You have got to apologise to Daniel for that. He never sang out of tune in his life, and I’ve known him since he was 11 years old. So don’t you dare.

Delaney told Ita it was “just an observation”, to which she responded that as a non-singer, he didn’t have much right to observe anything about Daniel’s performance:

Ita: Did you ever sing to a crowd of people?
Delaney: Well, I have, yeah.
Ita: How many?
Delaney: It doesn’t make a difference -
Ita: It DOES make a difference, Niall.

“I’m not defending Daniel because I know him, I’m defending him because I know he does not sing out of tune,” Ita continued.

Clearly, things got heated. Listen to the full confrontation here.

And as for Daniel, you can judge for yourself – here he is serenading Meath Rose Elysha Brennan after she was crowned the Rose of Tralee:
