Over 450,000 tune in to Tallafornia

Almost half a million viewers tuned in to last night’s preview of the TV3 reality show – with the show itself not officially due to start until early next year.

CLOSE TO HALF a million people tuned into new reality show Tallafornia last night – and it wasn’t even the official start of the series.

452,000 people watched the preview of TV3′s new show, which follow a group of men and women from the Dublin suburb living together for four weeks.

The full series is due to start early in the new year.

“It’s always hard to know with a new show how it will be received but we’re delighted with the figures,” said Maureen Catterson of TV3. “It’s only the start of what’s to come”.

Tallafornia trended worldwide on Twitter throughout the show and for some time after it ended, showing the programme was a major talking point.

Last night’s preview, which aired just after the final of X Factor, had a 27 per cent audience share.

The station said the show looks at the “phenomenon” that is Tallafornia: “The people, the places, the hairspray, the buff bodies and the golden orange skin tone”.
