Fresh homemade batter, none of that ready-made stuff. First nice and traditional with sugar and a little lemon juice, next one with Maple Syrup. At lunchtime break out the Nuttella. After dinner time for a little honeycomb ice-cream if there’s any batter left and if not, just make some more, it only takes 40 mins!

Have my batter made since last night. The longer it rests the better. We’ll be doing a savory round with pesto, ham and cheese and the traditional lemon sugar combo later!

With as little Horse meat as possible!

Can’t believe I missed Pancake Tuesday. I’m in Sydney and its never mentioned so I missed it. It’s 23.40 now so maybe I’ll celebrate pancake Wednesday this year or ill feel deprived. Just sugar on mine.

Why has no one mentioned blueberries!!! Blueberry syrup – just mash up some blueberries, add some maple syrup or honey and a bit of melted butter..dribble on top of pancakes with a bitta ice cream on the side!

Lemon & sugar for me. FYI the reason we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is to use up the eggs & flour in the cupboards before we embark on a Lenten fast ….well that was the reason back in the day anyway, don’t know many people who follow Lent anymore, though I have to say a sausage inevitable tastes lot nicer when it’s “forbidden” on Ash Wednesday (tomorrow)!!

Make sure you whisk the egg till it’s bubbly, and use a bit of baking powder or self raising flour – that’ll make your pancakes fluffy O:-)

One cup pancakes : equal measure flour (self raising gives nice fluffy ones) and milk and add an egg. Whisk it, butter up your pan and off you go. With maple syrup and bananas, yum. Wasn’t a pancake fan before but that’s cause I was used to greasy sloppy Irish version.

Pancakes are good, but this is the one day of the year when eating them feels wrong. Stupid Christian nonsense.

How do I like them? Preferably in another house where I don’t have to look at or smell them. They’re rotten!! And if they were genuinely nice, people would be eating them all the time, not just once a year!

Best pancakes are the ones my fiancée makes. She blends cottage cheese, porridge and eggs and water together to make the best batter which are very light.

Then lots of fruit and a small bit of splenda on them.
