Poland have asked the people of Ireland to eat their apples

Poland want us to eat their apples. And they’ve got a video encouraging us to do so.

APPLES. DO YOU like them? Specifically, how do you like them apples?

That is what the Polish Embassy would like to know. A new online campaign by the Polish Embassy in Ireland has issued a unusual imperative to the Irish public to ‘Eat Polish Apples’.

The video opens with scrolling text, outlining the message.

We are then shown an apple, valiantly bearing the Polish flag. Through the magic of freeze frame technology, the apple is pared down to its core before our very eyes.

The video ends with a reminder of who is responsible for all of this.

This comes as a response to the agricultural sanctions being applied on countries across the EU by Russia. The #eatpolishapples campaign hopes to turn the ban on Russian imports into an opportunity for growth in the Irish market.

The campaign has a number of other hashtags attached to it including #Eatpolishapples, #EatApples and #FreedomApples.

The full video can be viewed here. Although be warned, it contains a pretty disturbing ‘crunch’ based soundtrack.
