Found a handbag in a shopping centre a few months ago, it was a middle aged woman’s bag with 2 grand in cash inside. There was no phone but I was able to find her address from a letter inside, went to her house and she was in tears.. Gave her the bag and she said she was going to book a flight to Australia to see her new grandchild . She tried giving me 100 euro but couldn’t take that. Wished her well and gave her a hug. Sad to think if someone else had of found the bag they prob wouldn’t have gave it back and that woman wouldn’t have met her grandchild.

I was at my office Christmas party in Dublin and had borrowed my then-boyfriend’s camera. Grabbed a taxi home on Dawson St. It was the driver’s first week on the job and he insisted I take a receipt in case work would reimburse me (aaaah 2007…). Got in the door and realised I’d left the camera in the back seat. Ran out, taxi gone, but the receipt was on the ground, just about to blow away. Grabbed it, called the firm the next day and the driver insisted on coming all the way out to the house again to drop off the camera instead of me going to the carriage office to collect it. He wouldn’t take anything from me either. He was so cheerful.

It’s a small thing but it made such a strong impression on me.
