SO TESCO HAS gone and unleashed some brand new crisps on to the Irish people just in time for Christmas.
The most interesting of all these festive snack creations has to to be the Prosecco & Elderberry crisps.
Crisps that taste like alcohol? Yes, please.

So, first impressions
Could you actually taste the Prosecco?
Well, they actually taste a little like alcohol. There’s a weird fizz off them.
It’s more a fizzy sensation than actually tasting like alcohol.
Others could really taste the elderberry coming through, manifesting itself in another way:
It tastes like a jam donut in the form of a crisp.
Yeah, I agree. It really does taste like a jam donut, especially with the texture. Kind of like a raspberry pastry.
The advice from the panel was maybe don’t have them with dip.
Others had some ideas where they might be best suited:
I think they would work at parties. I wouldn’t go out and buy them myself now. But I also can’t stop eating them.
Some of our brave testers weren’t fans though:
The aftertaste is rot.
It’s like they’re not savoury. They’re just so sweet.
The crisps are covered in a kind of elderberry and Prosecco powder – and people were quick to comment on their look:
They do look kind of cool – almost festive. But when you get one with all the coating on it, it tastes a lot different to the others.

Ah, I wouldn’t mind seeing them at a party. They are pretty good.

The prosecco crisps are – in a word – a revelation. Delicious berry sugary granule jam tasting goodness in the vehicle of a crisp.
