Rapper breaks female fan's arm in 30ft stage dive (video)

Watsky has apologised on his Facebook, saying his stunt was ‘inexcusable’.

WATSKY WAS HE thinking?

Rapper George Watsky learned the hard way that stage diving is usually prohibited for a reason.

The 27-year-old from California was playing a gig on Sunday in Alexandra Palace, North London, as part of the Warped Tour.

While performing at the rock event, Watsky climbed the lighting truss– 30ft above ground – before he jumped off in an attempted crowd surf.

The crowd reportedly parted, leaving Watsky floored until he was lifted out of the crowd in a daze.

Warning: some viewers may find this footage disturbing.

A reviewer for Gigwise reported that the whole gig had to be brought to a stand-still after the impact.

The band watched in horror as the singer remained on the ground after missing the stage dive. Audience members were completely shocked and the main stage’s acts have completely come to a halt.

Two audience members were injured as a result of the fall, including one woman who’s arm was broken and a man who sustained a muscular injury with some bruising.

Watsky was quick to make an apology on his Facebook page after being released from hospital, saying that the stunt was “stupid and wildly irresponsible”.

The jump was not awesome, it was not badass, and it was not ballsy. It turned what should have been a great day for the people who got hurt into a nightmare.

He was also keen to emphasis that no substances were involved:

I have no excuse for my actions, and the only way I can explain my mindset is that it was a huge overreach in the heat of the moment. No, I was not drunk or on drugs.

Despite acknowledging that his actions were ‘inexcusable’, he assured fans that his six upcoming dates won’t be cancelled.

I will not be canceling the remaining 6 tour dates. I will do the shows, as usual I will meet everyone afterwards, and I will NOT be jumping off anything. I am deeply sorry and I promise to learn from this mistake.

The rapper, who played Dublin in October as part of his ‘Hug a Hater’ tour, says he hopes to fix things with those he injured.

I’ll be going back [to the hospital] in the morning to try to apologize, but I wouldn’t blame the guy if he spits in my face.

It seems that Watsky is definitely a fan of ‘jumping off of stuff’, posting a photo of him diving from a roof with the caption:

“Just jumping off a roof in Wisconsin in a Ninja Turtle costume… another day at work.”
