Then and now: Ireland of 1995 and 2015 in pictures

Let’s take a trip down memory lane…

HOW WELL DO you remember Ireland in 1995?

It might seem like just a blink of an eye ago for some (or perhaps aeons ago for others), but no matter your perspective, we can all agree that a lot has changed in Ireland over these past 20 years.

Ready for a blast from the past? Let’s see how much you can remember… And how things have changed.

1. Reach for the stars

Whereas these days, it’s more about David Forde:

2. Read all about it

An ad for an edition of the RTÉ Guide from way back when, including a mention of the late Mick Lally, heart and soul of 90s classic series Glenroe.

While a 2015 cover looks a little more like this:

3. Old habits die hard

And while we’ve yet to cast our votes in this year’s referendum as we fast forward to 2015, here’s a glimpse at some campaigners:

4. Hollywood vs Montrose

And the Point is now the Three Arena – and instead of Riverdance on the boards, we have Irish band the Coronas.

6. Through the keyhole

Mary Robinson, first female President of Ireland, visiting Los Angeles and receiving a key to the city from Mayor Richard Riordan. She was honoured later that day by the UN Development Fund for Women.

And the present mirrors the past, with our current day President, Michael D Higgins, speaking at 2015′s Women’s Place in the World conference in Dublin Castle.
