Saoirse Ronan watched Ireland win the Six Nations on Saturday in a Co Derry pub

She’s mad about the place.

IF THERE’S ONE place Saoirse Ronan really, really loves, it’s Co Derry.

During its City of Culture year in 2013, Saoirse was on hand to present the Turner Prize.

And during a recent interview with Good Morning America, she was only thrilled to hear that an audience member hailed from the county.

“Ah, very good, I love Derry, it’s one of my favourite cities,” she told him.

And true to her word, the Oscar-nominated actress spent Saturday soaking in the sights and sounds of the county before settling into a local bar to watch Ireland triumph in the Six Nations.

According to reports, the actress was dying to show her friend, Jack, around and took him on a City Tour.

Charlene McCrossan, a tour guide with City Tours, told The Belfast Telegraph she had no idea Saoirse was about to rock up.

We didn’t know it was her as she didn’t give her full name. We just knew that there was a private booking for two people but we didn’t know it was a Hollywood star until she showed up.

In fact, Charlene couldn’t say enough good things about the actress.

She was absolutely lovely, so grounded and so polite. She posed for photographs no problem, she was so nice. You wouldn’t have known she was a Hollywood superstar. She had a big coat and hat on and just looked like a tourist.

Charlene said Saoirse intended to finish off the day with a trip to the pub to watch Ireland take on Scotland in the Six Nations.

She was going to Sandinos Bar to watch the rugby. She said she had been in Derry a few times before and she wanted to show her friend how great it was.

Lads, we’re jealous.
