The baby seal in Dublin Bay has made its way back to sea

A local photographer found the pup lying on a pipeline near Sutton.

A SEAL PUP that appeared to be injured and lying on a pipe near Sutton in Dublin has now made his way back into the sea.

The small seal was first spotted by local photographer David Comerford last last night.

He wasn’t sure whether it was injured or not — and due to the lateness of the hour, couldn’t get through to a vet or anyone else for advice.

David stayed for a few hours, and was back on the scene before sunrise this morning. The little fellow was still lying in the same spot “and had a clear injury to one of its flippers”.

The Irish Seal Sanctuary co-ordinated a response this morning, in co-operation with a local veterinary centre Noah.

According to the photographer, the seal pup appeared to be in good health earlier apart from looking a little dehydrated.

This evening, we were contacted by Noah, the local veterinary centre, which said a team was sent down to rescue the seal and after “combing the strand” they eventually met with a person who has seen the seal heading back out to see.

Safe home little guy.
